When can we use i, a or m, a fingers

by Faisal Al-Boutiahi
(Bristol - UK)

I've have been learning the guitar for a few months. I need to know when can I use i,a and m,a apart from the usual i,m fingers.

Is there an example to follow in a piece of music apart from the exercise for scales and chords?

Regards,
Faisal

Hi Faisal,

You usually use those fingers (i,a + m,a) as you progress in music that is more difficult and requires the use of more fingers at once.

The music should indicate which finger combination to use. But remember, this is NOT "fixed in stone" and should be regarded as a good guide.

Also, if you use these different finger combinations mentioned above when practicing scales you should be well prepared when you are required to do it in the music piece.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Trevor M.
