Is it possible to strum without a pick and still sound professional?

Hi Ann-Marie,

The answer is a definite yes. There are many times a classical guitar player is called on to strum using the fingernails in a rasgueado fashion.

Also, much more than a classical player, a flamenco player is strumming with the fingernails probably 50% of the time.
