One new favorite on YouTube, and three others live

by Jeff Stanley
(San Antonio, Texas)

I just discovered Julio Cesar Oliva, who Ruben Diaz of the Guitar Foundation of America calls "the greatest classical guitar composer and player in Mexico." YouTube has a recording of Oliva playing his wonderful piece "Amaneci en Tus Brazos" here:

BTW, GFA is hosting a convention June 22-27 in Austin, Texas. The opening concert Tuesday night will feature Pepe Romero. I can't attend the entire event, which includes workshops and lectures. But in addition to Tuesday, I plan on attending two concerts on Friday night featuring Ana Vidovic and Grisha Goryachev.
