Renaissance Lute Music
by: Patricia

I'm looking for good guitar transcriptions of lute music, but finding it hard to get them or find them.

I know there are many of you out there whose knowledge of this may be much greater than mine...do you have any recommendations?

I like the 15th and 16 century music, and the laments and ballads...they're beautiful to me and I want to learn to play them.

But what I'm looking for is music that is already totally transcribed for the guitar. I can handle the odd tunings there might be (such as tuning the G string to F#,) but I don't want to learn to play the lute at this point or have to re-tune the whole guitar.

I'd welcome any input here!

Yes, I've got that CD

Yes, I have that Sharon Isbin CD. It is beautiful....her style is so lyrical and almost, well, like, fluid or watery....beautiful choices of pieces and wonderfully played. She is a gift to the world of classical guitar.
