Controversial Guitarists

In all honesty I don't really like many guitarist today!

Most of them are overrated. So rather than saying which guitarists are good, I'll rather summarize why most guitarists today are bad...

sterile playing
too rigid phrasing
too much mechanical drive
too fast playing
encouragement of metronome use
too much adherence to the score
some albums with terrible mixture of all styles (Ultimate guitar album)
boring performances
no idea of musical style

no idea of musical style

NO IDEA OF MUSICAL STYLE

-> the performing of music that one does not even understand!

Who is guilty of some of the above points?
Who are the guitarists that I really would not recommend anyone?

Well virtually every guitarist who has recorded.

But even for the few guitarists that I would actually recommend, I could recommend only performances of select works, because most of them have a big repertoire which often includes some works that they should never have recorded.

Do I think that this is only a problem with guitarists?
NO!
Many other instrumentalists play without understand musical style and true expression.

So what do we want in terms of guitarist/instrumentalists?
No we don't won't good guitarists.

We actually want musicians...
