1. NewsHi to all new and old subscribers!Welcome to the October 2008 issue of Great Guitar Tips. This month there's a lot to get through and a lot you're going to like. I've got a new lesson page up focusing on a great little Sor Waltz. I've also correct a P.D.F. in Tab for last month's music (El Testamen Den Amelia). Also I've found a great little Youtube application that is totally safe and highly useful. You'll be able to download videos straight from youtube - cool! The page on your Top 3 Players continues to swell. You can give your opinion if you haven't already. Then there's the background to this month's music and its composer. And don't forget the password to the video page is at the bottom of THIS ezine!
Well, we had better get a move on then...
2. New Page Additions - Sor Waltz on Lessons Page + Corrected PageI've added a new lesson page this month that focuses on a Sor waltz with lovely little passage runs in thirds. It's one that will really develop your technique.
You can see it at the
Lessons Page here...
Anyhow, I've corrected it and it now matches the music notation and the video on the same page.
3. Product Review - Youtube Downloader (Fr/ee)I've found an excellent little application that let's you download Youtube videos right to your desktop to watch at your own leisure. It's good news it you want to look at the videos on my site when it's convienient for you.
The application is fr/eeware at the moment so get on over and download it

5. Background to this Month's MusicThis month's music is a Branle by Adrian Le Roy. He was a French publisher/printer, composer, lutenist and writer... Read more hereA Branle is a (mainly) French country dance often in duple time and containing repetitive sections. In English it's pronounced "Brawl". Branle means to "sway" and that's exactly what they did when dancing a Branle, that is, sway from side to side. It was very popular during the 16th and 17th centuries. There are several variations or forms of the Branle namely: Bourgogne; Champagne; Simple; Double; Gai. It is a delightful form and really enjoyable to play. And speaking of playing... 6. This Month's Fr/ee MusicLet's get on with the Branle by Adrian Le Roy. It's a lot of fun to play.
